Bicentennial "Szatmári Pap Károly  - Carol Pop de Szathmari Pop"  1812 - 2012.
In 2012 we celebrated 200 years since the birth of the first photographer in Romania and the first war photographer in the world. On this occasion there was a representative series of events, both in the capital and in other cities of Romania. In this context, Gallery "Euro Photo Art" in Oradea hosted from January 16 to February 12, 2012, an exhibition representative made of digitized copies of photographs taken by celebrated photographer. Originals of 101 images selected for this exhibition are kept in several museums in Romania, but a large number of images displayed, is the property of private collectors in our country. Official opening of the exhibition representative was held at the Museum of Art in Cluj-Napoca, on 30 January , 2012, at the official launch of the third edition of the National Festival of Photography Month in Romania, where there were several events dedicated bicentennial Szathmári Pap Károly Pap - Carol Pop Szathmári. Acclaimed photographer was born 200 years ago, on 11.01.1812, in Cluj-Napoca. Earlier in his career, it was noted as a painter, and finally, after photography deepens, becomes court painter and photographer for Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza and King Carol I of Romania. Continue their journeys, both at home and abroad, taking with him, so the necessary painting and a mobile darkroom. Szathmari shooting and made numerous sketches of places and people of Bucharest
: churches of folk musicians, landowners or land. He died in 1887 in Bucharest, leaving the studio, on the street Enei, in the care of his numerous disciples workshop will remain functional until the time of the Second World War, when it was destroyed in a bombing. For more than 50 years, Szathmari never ceased to work with the same zeal and satisfaction when found a subject that interested him (almost any subject, except natural death). The exhibition had on January 16, 2012, in Euro Photo Art Gallery presented works by art critic Dr. Ramona Novicov. At the opening was also attended by: Juliu Delurean municipality councilor, Ioan Moldovan poet. The exhibition was opened by photographer Stefan Toth A.FIAP who attend the event and as President of the Association of Photographic Artists from Romania that president of the "Euro Photo Art" in Oradea. Musical moments were provided by artists of "Varadinum" Quartet in Oradea Tokaji Ágnes and Beata Bozsódi. Exhibition organized by the Association of Euro Photo Art, in partnership with “Wild Lily” Photographic Club of Oradea, the preamble to the third edition of the National Festival “Photography Month” with International Participation in Romania, he remained available to the Oradea visitors until February 10, 2012 and can be accessed at Euro Photo Art Gallery of Oradea,  P-taDecember 1No.12, from 08:00 - 17:00, free entrance.
